Memento Dears

Story:
A sudden accident leaves Melodie Adams without memories of her closest friends and relatives. By interacting with the people and places around her she is able to piece together events from the past, uncovering a surprising truth.

Project Summary:
With the Memento Dears project my goal was to create a life-sim game centered around character interactions and critical decisions that help the player reach one of multiple endings. Inspiration for this game came from a combination of titles such as Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney series and the Tokimeki Memorial Girls side series.

Game Details:

Environment:
There are 20 accessible locations in the game and 8 special event locations. Players are able to move around freely in the game by clicking on directional arrows presented in each scene. The in-game calendar is 30 days in length, additional special locations are available on specific dates or triggered by specific interactions.

Stats
The playable character has several stats that determine their performance at activities or success with relationships.

Energy Stat
Energy is required to interact with other characters an do activities. Activities and interacting with other characters will drain energy from the player. Certain activities drain more than others. Energy can be drained at higher rates if the player’s mood is of a bad status (indicated by the player avatar). Energy can be replenished by sleeping or eating.

Mood Stat
The player’s mood stat directly affects their energy consumption. If the player’s mood is good, activities won't drain as much energy and player’s can interact with more objects or characters in a day. Sometimes bad outcomes when interacting with objects will negatively affect the player’s mood. To avoid this, player’s are encouraged to try a variety of activities each day.

Intelligence Stat
Educational activities such as reading or studying can help increase the player's intelligence stats.
Charisma Stat
Choosing certain answers during conversations can help improve the player’s charisma stats. Other example activities include playing online social games or watching self improvement programming on television.
Fitness Stat
Physical activities can help boost the player's fitness stats. Example activities include exercising at school gym or sports field.
Money Stat
Money can be acquired by taking jobs or collecting allowance. Players can spend money on food or gifts.
Relationship stats
The player’s relationship status with other characters depends on interactions with them. Also certain character relationships are tied to stats such as intelligence, charisma and fitness.
Inventory
The items that player’s buy while shopping will appear in the inventory menu. The max capacity of the inventory is 8. To free up slots, player’s can give items to other characters when encountered. Giving characters their preferred gifts will boost relationship stats with that character. Characters will drop hints in dialogue scenes about what their preferences are.

Jobs
There are several jobs player’s can do throughout the game. Some jobs require a certain level of fitness, charisma or intelligence to obtain. For job opportunities player’s must visit certain locations on certain days of the week or use a computer to find a job. After qualifying, players must visit the job location to earn money and increase certain stats based on the outcome of their performance scenario (randomized scenarios are triggered for job outcomes).

-Gym (Sport's team manager)
Final Thoughts
This project was a great exercise in creative writing and designing game systems. Ultimately I learned a lot about where my interests and strengths lie in the process. Post launch I’ve been able to take a bigger step back and see what areas I would improve for future projects moving forward.

After Memento

Story:
After the events of Memento Dears, Melodie Adams is determined to create brand new memories with her friends. Her Highschool's summer college experience program seems like just the perfect opportunity. There will undoubtedly be fun, adventure and new mysteries to solve!

Finders Keepers

Overview:
In this hidden object game there's money scattered everywhere, its up to you to scavenge and find it all. So, how much will you earn? If you're quick and observant you could become a millionaire! Find as much hidden money in each image as you can. Submit your score to see if you're the richest. There are a variety of levels including levels where you must collect poker chips and levels where you must find arcade tokens to redeem for prizes.

Project Summary:
I originally designed this game for flash so it could be widely distributable. My goal was keeping it quick and fun so that it could easily be picked up by anyone.

Game Details:

Levels
Each level in Finders Keepers offers a unique picture hunting experience. The full version of the game(iOS) offered 28 levels, including 3 special object hunting levels with secret bonuses. There is a time limit set for each level between 60-90 seconds. Time limit depends on the number of objects hidden in the picture.
Achievements
There are several hidden achievements in the game. Example achievements include finding all hidden money, acquiring a purple llama and unlocking a pirate's treasure.
Scores and Bonus
Score is tracked in currency amounts; it is added up when players find $100 bills, $20 bills, $5 bills, $1 bills and 10 cent items. Piggy Banks are bonus items hidden throughout each level, they contain variable amounts of dollars between $50 -$100. Special items appear in bonus levels such as the casino, arcade and beach. At game completion or at level select screen players can submit their score to leaderboards (formerly mochi media leaderboards)

Bubble's Troubles

Overview:
Mr and Mrs Bubble were accidentally separated. Your objective is to move Mr. Bubble through 30 maze levels without touching walls or obstacles and reunite him with Mrs. Bubble. Avoid traps and use your fingertips to interact with the environment so you can progress. Play inter-level mini games to earn even more points!

Project Summary:
My goal for this project was to design a game around accelerometer technology available in mobile devices. I took note of many games such as marble mazes and wanted to create something more challenging that involved not only balancing skills, but also speed and environment interaction to pass the levels.

Levels
Each level in Bubble’s Troubles offers a unique challenge, gradually ramping up in difficulty as the player progresses. The full version of the game(iOS) offered 30 levels, including 2 bonus minigames. Players encounter various obstacles and enemies while playing the game.

Scores and Bonus
Score is tracked by the amount of time it takes to clear the level. Certain levels contain bonus bubbles which expire if not acquired before the timer runs out. There are 2 bonus mini games which are randomly triggered after obtaining a bonus bubble.
Memory match mini game
In the memory match mini game players must match sets of 2 cards with the same picture before the timed limit runs out. Each set matched gains the player bonus points. Upon completion the player gets double the total amount of points earned.
Bubble Luck mini game
Similar to a slots game, Players get 5 turns to to draw 3 picture combos. Getting a winning combination earns bonus points.

Nyann Difference

Overview:
There's 5 differences to spot in each picture, players must use their keen abilities to find the oddities in this spot the difference game filled with cute cats.

Project Summary:
